Position Overview
PalmPay is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Manager to support and manage the company’s legal affairs in Bangladesh. This role will be responsible for contract management, legal advisory, regulatory support, dispute handling, and ensuring legal compliance across PalmPay’s fintech operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in corporate and commercial law, exposure to fintech, banking, MFS/PSP, or technology-driven businesses, and the ability to execute legal matters independently while collaborating closely with internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate & Commercial Legal Support
Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide range of commercial contracts, including vendor, merchant, partnership, and service agreements.
Provide legal advice and support to business, finance, HR, product, and operations teams on day-to-day legal matters.
Ensure contracts and business practices align with applicable laws and company policies.
Regulatory & Compliance Support
Support compliance with applicable Bangladesh laws, regulations, and guidelines relevant to fintech, MFS/PSP, data protection, and consumer protection.
Assist in regulatory communications and documentation with authorities such as Bangladesh Bank, MRA, NBR, and other government bodies.
Monitor legal and regulatory developments and advise management on potential business impact.
Dispute Management & Risk Mitigation
Handle legal disputes, claims, notices, and litigation matters, coordinating with external law firms where required.
Identify legal risks and propose practical risk mitigation strategies to protect the company’s interests.
Support internal investigations and compliance reviews when necessary.
Legal Governance & Documentation
Maintain proper legal documentation, contract repositories, and compliance records.
Support internal audits, regulatory inspections, and due diligence exercises.
Assist in developing and updating internal legal policies, SOPs, and guidelines.
Training & Stakeholder Collaboration
Conduct basic legal awareness and contract training for internal teams.
Act as a key legal point of contact for internal stakeholders and external partners.
Support the Head of Legal on strategic legal initiatives and special projects.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education & Certification
LL.B and LL.M are mandatory.
BPTC (Bar Professional Training Course) is preferred.
Must be a licensed Advocate enrolled with the Bangladesh Bar Council.
Eligibility to practice in the Bangladesh Supreme Court (High Court Division) is strongly preferred.
Experience
7+ years of post-qualification experience in corporate legal practice or in-house legal roles.
Prior experience in fintech, banking, MFS/PSP, telecom, or multinational companies is highly preferred.
Hands-on experience in contract drafting, legal advisory, and regulatory support.
Exposure to litigation management and regulatory compliance is an advantage.
