Palmpay is a Pan-African fintech company currently operating in Ghana, Nigeria,Tanzania and expanding to other markets in Uganda.We are reinventing the payments experience by making it easy and reliable for everyone to transfer money, pay bills and shop online. We are seeking for a proactive and results-driven.Legal Manager who will oversee and manage all legal matters for the organization in Uganda, ensuring compliance with local laws, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Banking or Fintech sectors, with proven experience in corporate, commercial, regulatory, and contractual matters.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide strategic legal advice and guidance to senior management and business units on corporate, commercial, regulatory, and operational matters.
  2. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents, ensuring the company’s interests are protected.
  3. Ensure compliance with Ugandan laws and regulations, particularly those affecting Banking, Fintech, and financial services sectors.
  4. Liaise with regulators, government authorities, and external counsel on legal matters.
  5. Manage legal risks and develop policies to mitigate potential exposures.
  6. Support business operations with legal input for new products, services, partnerships, and projects.
  7. Oversee dispute resolution, litigation management, and enforcement of legal rights.
  8. Conduct training and awareness programs on legal and regulatory matters for employees.
  9. Keep up-to-date with changes in legislation and regulatory frameworks relevant to the financial services industry.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution.
  • Postgraduate qualifications (LLM or equivalent) preferred.
  • Admission to practice law in Uganda.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of legal experience, with at least 3 years in Banking, Fintech, or financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of Ugandan regulatory and compliance frameworks affecting banking and digital financial services.
  • Experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and commercial agreements.
  • Proven ability to provide practical legal advice in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
