Program Overview
PalmPay’s Finance Graduate Trainee Program is designed to develop high-potential graduates into well-rounded finance professionals with strong exposure to fintech operations, financial control, and strategic finance. The program offers structured training, job rotations, mentorship, and hands-on experience across core finance functions within a fast-paced digital financial services environment.
Successful candidates will gain practical experience in financial reporting, accounting operations, budgeting, controls, payments reconciliation, and regulatory compliance, while building a solid foundation for long-term career growth within PalmPay.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Accounting
- Support day-to-day accounting activities including journal postings, account reconciliations, and ledger maintenance.
- Assist with transaction monitoring, payment reconciliations, and settlement processes across PalmPay’s products.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Assist in preparing management reports, financial statements, and performance dashboards.
- Support variance analysis and provide insights into cost drivers and revenue trends.
- Help track KPIs and financial metrics aligned with business objectives.
- Support budget preparation, tracking, and forecasting activities.
- Assist with expense monitoring, cost analysis, and internal control reviews.
- Help ensure adherence to approved budgets and financial policies.
- Support compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and financial controls.
- Assist during internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to queries.
- Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping in line with audit standards.
- Work closely with operations, product, risk, and business teams to support finance-related initiatives.
- Participate in process improvement projects aimed at improving efficiency and accuracy.
- Support ad-hoc finance projects as assigned by the finance leadership team.
- Structured onboarding and rotational exposure across key finance functions.
- Hands-on learning under the guidance of experienced finance professionals.
- Continuous performance feedback and mentorship throughout the program.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of Second Class Upper (2:1).
- 0–2 years of work experience (NYSC completed).
- Internship or industrial training experience in finance, accounting, or audit is an added advantage.
- Not more than 27 years of age as at the time of application
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Basic understanding of accounting and financial principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; knowledge of accounting software or ERP systems is a plus.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and thrive in a fast-paced fintech environment.
- Progress toward professional certifications (ICAN, ACCA, CIMA) is an advantage.
- Interest in fintech, digital payments, or financial services.
